  • Always select socks made from natural fibers: Although a little synthetic fiber in your socks doesn’t hurt; if you have sweaty feet it is better not to buy synthetic socks as they don’t absorb moisture. Cotton is a preferable fiber but it’s not as good as merino wool in absorbing moisture.
  • Make sure the socks fit you: wearing large socks only leads to them creasing underfoot. Equally, socks that are too small can restrict your blood circulation and leave you feeling uncomfortable altogether.

  • Good elastic: the best elastics to buy are Lycra and Elastane. Non-elastic socks are perfect for people suffering from diabetes, obesity, irregular blood circulation and other possible ailments which prevent us from wearing socks comfortably.
  • Be selective: different socks have different purposes. Choose socks that have cushioned soles as they allow for more comfort and protection if you need extra shock protection for example if you are running. 

When buying socks you need to consider durability as well. See if the heal and toe are reinforced as this will protect your foot and increase durability.
